Presenter Biography
Dan Tell manages the technologies powering Morrison Planetarium, Hohfeld Hall, and other immersive venues at the California Academy of Sciences. Dan also manages data and content integration for the Academy’s real-time software systems, and he has had a hand in hundreds of live shows, lectures, events, and external collaborations. Dan has been a significant contributor to the Uniview Users’ Group and contributes to the Academy’s role as an Informal Science Institution Partner on the OpenSpace Project.
Dan’s career as a planetarian started in 2003 at the Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium at the Grand Rapids Public Museum before joining the Academy in 2012.
Dan participated in planning the 2017 March for Science in San Francisco, which saw over 55,000 people gather in one of the largest pro-science demonstrations ever, and as President and Lead Organizer of March for Science – San Francisco into 2018. Dan currently serves as President-Elect for the Great Lakes Planetarium Association (GLPA), and has served on advisory committees for the International Planetarium Society.
